Home of the mighty Bulimba Bulls

Founded 1944

The vital but now almost forgotten link to a healthy growth rate for the sport of hockey, Primary schools, was instrumental in building the initial strength of the Bulimba Hockey Club. The Sports Master of the Bulimba State School, Mr. Harry Quinn, purchased twenty-two (ex Army Disposal) hockey Sticks. They were the old English style with the long hook, and while they were worse for wear with worn hooks from being used on the gravel bull rings, those sticks played an important role in establishing a stranglehold for the sport in Bulimba.

U11 (8) vs Saints (2)

Under 11 started the season with a bang with an 8 to 2 win over Saints. Cody Hale got hat trick, Tom Deakin with 2 and individual goals to Karmichael Dee, Jonty Gannon and Liam Gannon.  For a team with over 50% new players to hockey they really came together and worked together to achieve this great outcome.

MHL2 (3) vs SWU (2) (1)

The Bulls gave a dominating performance and came out comfortable 3-1 winners thanks to a Jason Hale Hat-trick.  This weeks performance was a marked improvement on last week with crisper passing and movement creating space for our forward line players.  The first goal came after nine minutes when Jason Hale scored from the top of the 'D' after a slick passing move down the right hand side of the pitch involving Phil Seed and Scotty McAlister.  Bulimba went further ahead ten minutes later after more fine build up play led to Hale scoring a fine individual goal beating three players on the top of the 'D' and the keeper with an accurate flick. Bulls conceded ten minutes before half time to make the score 2-1 at the break.
After half time Bulls improved their passing game and created some great moves with John Fisher creating the vital links between the backs and the forwards.  Jason Hale scored one last time, six minutes into the half, from a hard struck Bulimba short corner.  The Bulls continued to play good attractive hockey right up to the end of the game but were unable to break down the strong SWU defence again.
